Thousands of participants in the March for Our Lives rally fill the southern portions of Washington, DC's 6th Street NW, Pennsylvania Avenue NW, and Constitution Avenue in front of the National Gallery of Art on Saturday, March 24, 2018. More than 200,000 people attended the event according to Digital Sign & Imaging Service Inc (DDIS). The student-led event was organized by Never Again MSD, a movement born from the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2017.
Protesters urged for universal background checks on all guns sales, raising the federal age of gun ownership and possession to the age of 21, closing of the gun show loophole, a restoration of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, and a ban on the sale of high-capacity magazines in the United States.
With more than 2 million estimated to have collectively marched in Washington and more than 800 associated events, it was the largest student protest in American history.
