While downtown yesterday to have lunch with friends I thought I would drop by the Jefferson Memorial for a few shots. Given that it was a chilly January weekday, I figured I'd be able to get some pretty clear shots of it without too many others around. It was also a mostly cloud day with on-again/off-again directional sunshine and moody clouds. Yesterday's Photo of the Day is a much brighter, lighter image shot with bright directional beams of sunlight shining from over my shoulder, east into the rotunda. This image, shot approximately 45 minutes later looking north to the Washington Monument, is a darker, heavier, moodier image capturing greater contrast from the highlights to the shadows for an entirely different feel.
A bit of Washington trivia.
Q: How many monuments are there in Washington, DC?
