Thanksgiving is a gathering time for family. This year instead of traveling, we're honored to be hosting some of our Connecticut family here in Virginia. My parents arrived two days ago and this afternoon my sister Amy, brother-in-law Howard, and niece Aislinn arrived.
It wasn't long after their arrival that I got Aislinn in front of the camera and lights for a few final shots from my Canon Professional Services (CPS) evaluation loan that included a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and the Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM lens. I'd used both on two events this past week and one very large wedding, but I'd only given them a small test in the studio with Luke Catwalker Remington.
I love them both and think they'll both make wonderful additions to my kit. Many thanks to Eric Stoner for the recommendations. I wouldn't have even considered the 135mm without his suggestion, but boy I'm glad I did.
I also adore my subject. Thank you Aislinn for some great moments before the camera and being such a great model! With the distance between us our time is always short but precious. Thanks for spending some of it in front of my camera!
I wish each and every one of you a very happy Thanksgiving 2017. As you gather with family and friends to give thanks tomorrow and this week, try to slow it down and savor the time you have together, as it is sure to pass too quickly.
"Our prayers are rarely petitionary. We don’t so much ask for things that we don’t have as give thanks for what we have received.”
“I don’t understand.”
The rabbi smiled.
“It’s something like this. You Christians say, ‘Our Father who art in Heaven, give us this day our daily bread.’ Our comparable prayer is, ‘Blessed art Thou, O Lord, who bringest forth bread from the earth.’ That’s rather over-simplified, but in general our prayers tend to be prayers of thanksgiving for what has been given to us." — Harry Kemelman (Friday the Rabbi Slept Late (The Rabbi Small Mysteries))
