Inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, is this gigantic wall of nude human body parts, seemingly placed at random on the outer wall of Citizen's Kitchen & Bar and nearby the headless statue of Lenin at Red Square Restaurant & Vodka Lounge.
While I am unsure of the artist behind this 1991 work, or his or her artistic intent with the installation, perhaps the ideas of two famous Italian artists, Michelangelo (1475-1564) and Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916), might provide us an interpretive framework for understanding it.
"He who does not master the nude cannot understand the principles of architecture." ― Michelangelo
“With Michelangelo anatomical science is transformed into music. With him the human body is architectonic matter for the construction of dreams.” ― Umberto Boccioni
