It's Throwback Thursday friends and the one photograph that came to mind was this, showing the Potomac's fierce rushing waters taken October 30th, 2013 from the Chain Bridge, just above the first pier from the Virginia side, one day after Hurricane Sandy blew through the DC Metro area.
I wanted to use this Throwback Thursday opportunity to encourage everyone to please donate what you're able to the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts in Texas and Louisiana, so please share this as widely as you're able. Our fellow Americans are suffering the worst rainfall disaster in U.S. history. Many organizations are doing vital work to help save lives and give comfort amidst masive flooding and other catastrophic impacts from Hurricane Harvey but they need our help. This is going to be a very long road to recovery, measured in years.
The best way to help is to donate money. Donating "things" creates more of a supply chain burden than it provides helps. There are many ways your donation can help; just pick one that resonates best with you. This link from Texas Monthly (a great magazine by the way) provides a great breakdown whether you most want to help kids, animals, people with medical needs, the homeless, farmers, those who are displaced, or by providing food. Just pick one and just do it today.
